Location Report

I am looking for some abandoned locations around my college area so started by looking on google for derelict places in a 10-mile radius. The search results gave me this

 

After looking into this website and scouting the perfect location I found a place called Somerton church which is an early English church which is now in ruins but sits in a very nice field/forest area which gives it a spooky derelict look which I wanted for my video.

Another location I wanted was a beach/sea side area in which I could find quite easily as college is based right net to the sea therefore it was just a case of walking down the road for this location.

However, whilst on the way to the beach in Gorleston me and the cast for the video stumbled across an abandoned register office building in which was locked but the outside area of it gave a good location for some nice shots of the urban feel I was looking for.

Also, the skatepark I used for my video was important for the style of video and genre as there is a lot of skateboarding in the video which conforms to the urban genre of the drum and bass music.

Music video re-search

After looking through many music videos and listening to lots of tracks I could use for my desired genre and target for the video I chose this song and video to base my project on.

I enjoyed the black and white colour scheme and the urban lifestyle presented in the video which conforms to the genre of music in which the video is made for.

after viewing and analysing more of this artist music and the videos that are made for the tracks I decided on my style and genre of music video I was going to make. I knew people who live an urban lifestyle for example the, main characters in my video will be skaters therefore conforming to the whole idea of the urban lifestyle and the drum and bass genre.

Locations:

When choosing locations, I used the videos of various artists to give me ideas of shots and located areas to shoot, for example the beach scenes in the original video for the ‘Theses Lights’ song I therefore got some shots on the seaside and beach location. Also, to keep up with the urban theme I researched desolated locations in which have been abandoned and I found a few places and travelled to these locations like Somerton church. Also, lots of my shots are of the characters skating therefore I travelled and filmed at a skatepark to get the skating clips I needed for my film.
